The Pow
er of Brown Bananas
It a well-known fact that bananas are one of the most consumed fruit on the planet. Yet, when this berry
begins to ripen and brown spots slowly appear, we typically think “Welp, can’t eat these anymore.”
Right before tossing them in the garbage……
Guess what?
Bananas are actually healthier (and much sweeter) browned, opposed to when at their green and yellower
stages.
Sounds wrong?
Well,
that’s
not
to
negate
the
wonderful
benefits
you
gain
by
eating
bananas
in
general.
The
berry
produces
an
excellent
source
of
fiber,
which
aids
in
digestion.
It
contains
Vitamin
C
as
well
as
Vitamin
B6
(can
contribute
to
sleep)
and
it
is
rich
in
potassium
as
well
as
magnesium,

tremendous

and

ssure.
So,
don’t
go
trash
talking regular na
nners!
Browned bananas assist in those departments just as much. However, the benefits of these overtly ripened
bananas extend to huge platforms. Like cancer. As antioxidant levels rise in as the banana ripens, and the
carbs are broken down into sugar, a substance known as TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) is produced. It’s
a cytokine (a cell signaling protein) that helps with cell to cell communication. This increases white
blood cells, and helps the body fight off unusual growths {i.e. cancer!}. This process is almost 8x more
effective when the banana has browned than when in their green stages (which can cause bloating due
to the high levels of starch produced at this time), and almost 3x more affective than when yellow.
The only downfall to all this ‘mushy’ talk is that once a banana’s starch levels are broken down into
sugar, it can cause potential dangers to a diabetic, whom should definitely consider their sugary intakes.
Overall, you’re surely doing the body wonders just by eating fruit and reading to enlighten yourself on
what you allow to enter the temple. So, whether or not you take the tip, you’re still doing the temple
justice. (Tip: Bake the browned banana to a dish of your liking. The affects are still there…) Just
remember: the darker the berry, the sweeter it’s nourishing juice.
Yup. Literally.
